Introduction

Janeu is called Yagyopaveet in the Sanskrit language. it is a sacred thread made of three-thread yarn, which a person wears over the left shoulder and below the proper arm. that is, it’s far put around the neck in this sort of way that it stays above the left shoulder. The three threads in the thread – symbols of the trinity Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh-Symbols of Devaruna, Pitruruna, and Rishi-runa are symbols of Sattva, Raja, and Tama. Also, these three sutras symbolize the three steps of the Gayatri Mantra and also the symbols of the three ashrams. There are three wires in each wire of thread. So the total number of stars is nine. One mouth, two nostrils, two eyes, two ears, and two feces and urine make up a total of nine. It means – we speak and eat well with our mouths, see well with our eyes and hear well with our ears. Five knots are tied in the thread which symbolizes Brahma, Dharma, Ardha, Kama, and Moksha. It is also a symbol of five yagyas, five sense organs, and five actions. The length of the thread: The length of the thread is 96 fingers because the wearer of the thread should try to learn 64 arts and 32 vidyas. 32 Vidyas are composed of four Vedas, four Upavedas, six Angas, six Darshanas, three Sutras, and nine Aranyakas. The 64 arts include architectural creation, cuisine, painting, literary arts, handicrafts, language, machine making, sewing, embroidery, weaving, handicrafts, jewelry making, agricultural knowledge, etc.

A long piece of kalawa, a string of cotton, stitched cloth, is made of mekhela. Kopeen is about 4 inches wide and one and a half feet long loincloth. It can also be kept by stitching it with Mekhla. A roll-like stick or Brahma Dand can also be kept in the form of punishment. Yagyopaveet is kept in yellow color. Wearing unstitched clothes, holding a stick in hand, wearing a kopeen and a yellow dupatta, the janeu is worn by law. There is a Yagya for wearing the thread, in which the holder of the thread participates with his entire family. The sacred thread performed by the yajna is made by granting it with a special method. It is worn only after Guru Diksha. When it is impure, it is replaced. This Sanskar starts with Gayatri Mantra: Yagyopaveet Sanskar starts with Gayatri Mantra. The union of Gayatri- Upavit is Dwijatva. There are three strings in the Yagyopaveet.

There are three stages in Gayatri.

‘Tatsaviturvarenyam’ first stage, ‘Bhargodevasya dhimahi’

second stage, ‘Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat’

The third stage is the Statue of Gayatri Mahamantra – Yagyopaveet, which contains three words including 9 words, and three steps. With this mantra, we perform the sacrament of Yagyopavitam: Ayushyamgra pratimucha shubram yajnopaveetam balamastu tejah.

Before commencing the sacrificial rites, the sacrificial rites are performed. The Guru says by reciting the mantra that from today you have become a Brahmin, that is, one who believes in Brahm (the one who believes only in God). After this, by wearing deer skin, tie a knot of Munj (Mekhla) and give punishment in hand. After that, the boy begs for alms from the people present.
Age of wearing Janeu: Upanayana ceremony of the child should be performed in the eighth year of the day on which the child is conceived. Vidya should be started only after wearing janeu, but nowadays most people do not wear janeu after the end of the guru tradition, so they are wearing janeu before marriage.
